Be honest and realistic in determining how much time you will be able to spend with your Boxer, a breed that craves human companionship and does not do well if left alone and ignored. The Boxer provides information to consider. Boxers are a wonderful breed, though not suitable for everyone. Our Volunteers will check in with you over the next few weeks to be sure all is going well and to answer any questions you may have.Īdopting a Boxer, or any dog, is a serious commitment, to be made only after careful consideration and research. Please give your new Boxer plenty of time to settle in with you, your home and other family pets before introducing it to your friends, going to dog parks, etc. You will receive the Boxer’s medical records as part of the Adoption Packet. You will be required to sign a legally binding Adoption Contract and pay the adoption fee. If you, the Foster Home and Placement Team agree the dog is a compatible match, arrangements will be made for adoption.Īdoption Day! Please be sure you have everything you will need for your new family member. A meet and greet at the Foster Home may then be arranged. The Foster Homes know their dog best and you will have the opportunity to discuss potentially suitable dogs in detail with them. BRAF does not adopt on a “first-come first-served” basis, instead we carefully consider the needs of both the family AND the Boxer to ensure a successful match is made. There may be times several families are interested in the same dog. Placement – Once approved, a member of our Placement Team will begin working with you to find the best match for your family. Once the home visit is complete, and our Volunteer has submitted the necessary paperwork, you will be notified of your application status. We do require that all members of your household be present, along with your family dogs. Home Visit – This is an important part of the process and helps us when considering the best placement for both you and the Boxer. You will then be contacted regarding the status of your application and if applicable a home visit by one of our Volunteers will be arranged at a mutually convenient time. Once this part of the process is completed and approved, a member of our Application Team will call you to go over your application and answer any questions you may have. If any information is lacking, additional details will be required before moving forward. Preliminary Screening – Upon receipt of the application all references will be checked, including the vet, landlord and HOA (if either is applicable). Providing thorough information will help expedite this. Please understand we are all volunteers and the adoption process may take several weeks. This page is updated daily as information becomes available. The adoption process begins when you submit your application. Filling out an APPLICATION is the fastest way to meet and learn more about a dog that interests you. To learn more about a dog, please click on his or her picture. Consider what RESCUE really is, and please take a second look at the dogs outside of your original criteria. Maybe they are a bit older then you may think you want, or the wrong color, or have a bad picture that doesn’t show their true beauty, but they are all beautiful. So we ask you to take a second look at all the dogs on this page. Would people overlook your dog because of their age or color? Or maybe you have not successfully trained your current dog to be “good with kids, dogs, cats, etc.”, limiting their appeal to someone looking to adopt a dog. But many dogs, if given the right training and time, can fit into many complicated households.Īnd consider the following -what would happen to your own dogs, if for some reason you needed rescue to take your dog, or worse, your dog became a stray and ended up in rescue. What that means is that if most of the adoption applications we get are for males, under two years old, flashy fawn, and good with kids, dogs, cats, etc., then what do we do with all our three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve and thirteen year olds? And what do we do with all the white and brindle dogs? Or the males and females that don’t meet your wish list? Granted we try to do our best to match the “good with kids, dogs, cats, etc. Rescue is taking in a dog in need, no matter what age, sex, color, cuteness, etc. If you are interested in adding a new member to your family, and have decided to rescue a boxer, please take a minute to understand what rescue is.
